The Backgound
Everything began sometime in september 2000 when I was searching the
web for a freeware message board which I could install on my webpage, but with
as many features as the commercial UBB
from Infopop. Through a script collection I found a board called
YaBB (Yet Another Bulletin Board).
It was exactly that what I was looking for.
I signed up at the community board there and started looking around. There
was a board where people posted their changes, hacks and modifications.
Mostly they offered a text file with instructions to change the board perl code.
That wasn't that hard for me but when I started to integrate more advanced and larger
modifications, they mostly didn't work because I made a small mistake somewhere
in the code. My thought: Isn't there a better way to get this hacks into my board?
The Project "BoardMod"
There it was, the idea, the project - a program which would be able to apply
modifications automatically. In about one week I had the first version released.
The feedback in the YaBB community was very good so I decided to improve my project.
I added the possibility to uninstall mods, a mod editor and also a checklist
with already installed mods. At first I converted all useful mods I could find into
my .mod file format but within the next releases more and more people wrote their mods
especially for my program.
The Current Situation
With over 125.000 downloads BoardMod has grown to the most powerful tool for the YaBB
Message Board system. The program
is officially accepted by the developers and is full supported by the YaBB community. If
you want a customized board you will be glad to have this program! The current version

About This Webpage
I created this webpage because of the need for a up-to-date mod database which includes the latest
modifications for YaBB boards. Originally I packed all mods I found into the next release of
the BoardMod program and I will not stop to add as many mods as possible into the package but
I think that I would be handy to have a place where you can download the mods which are not yet
included within the program so that you don't have to wait till the next version of BoardMod
is released. Also this page should give answers and support to new people in this business.

FAQ section. Even if you have a mod request or just an idea just tell me.
Further Plans
We're currently working on BoardMod 3.0 which will be completely rewritten and include several new features.
There also might be several "in-between" versions for the collection of bugfixed.
